Transport in Singapore

Singapore is a cosmopolitan city and like many of them. We are not spared from the traffic congestions in the rush hours. As a city state with only 710m2 of land. Proper control and planning of land use becomes crucial. In an effort to improve traffic conditions. The country has developed over the years a comprehensive and efficient transport sytem that comprices of the Mrt ( subway  or metro )and buses that is linked  seemlessly via the stations using a common ticket. To encourage use of public transport instead of vehical ownership a quota system was introduced in 1990. Prior to purchasing your vehical ( cars and motorcycles ). A certificate of entittlement ( COE ) is required and this is acquired via a bidding process every month according to the categories stated ( according to engine capacity ) A COE for an average 1600cc car can cost anything around S$80,000. ( without the car ) Once the COE is secured, you can then proceed to purchase the car of your choice.
